Patterson Homestead

This historic house museum provides a glimpse into the multi-generational lives of Dayton’s influential Patterson family, who lived on the site from 1804 to 1904. The Federal style house, which was constructed in three major components between 1810 and 1850, was originally the home of Revolutionary War veteran Colonel Robert Patterson and his wife, Elizabeth Lindsay Patterson. Frank J. Patterson’s son, Jefferson, donated the house and its 8.5 acres to the City of Dayton in 1953 for use as a meeting center and family memorial. At the time of donation, the house was presented fully furnished with 18th and 19th century antiques along with several original family pieces. Over the years, the artifact collection has grown to include more family-related artifacts that are housed in six period rooms. An exhibit gallery showcases the NCR story. The Patterson Homestead is located at 1815 Brown Street, Dayton, OH.

Investigators Notes:

This building has claims of hunting's by several ghosts. They are thought to be those of the members of the Patterson family, especially since one who is sometimes seen walking up the stairs to the third floor is dressed in military regalia. Children's laughter is heard throughout the house. One Christmas the drying gingerbread men were jerked off their line overnight. Strong breezes are often felt inside, and sometimes the ghosts will do something mischievous, like locking a volunteer in one of the rooms. When we arrived the host of this beautiful home took us upstairs and was amazed that items have been thrown on the floor by the so-called ugly mans room, which she was just up there before we arrived to turn on all the lights and the area was clear.

The basement held some very interesting sounds, at one point four of us on separate times heard the sounds of a little girl laughing and crying and a man grunting. the third floor as well had some very interesting things happening. loud bangs when nobody was up there and strange shadows that could not be explained. the second floor is were to be said small children have been seen running around when none are in the home. We did get alot of strange spikes on the K2 meter with no immediate explanation such as wiring, electronics etc. doesn't mean a radio wave or cell wave was moving through the air at this time again though very interesting.
