Ohio State Reformatory with GAC

Ohio State Reformatory
Mansfield, Ohio
With Ghost Adventures
Sept. 9th-11th

This time we met up with the Ghost Adventures Crew (Nick Groff, Aaron Goodwin, and Zak Bagans) and special guests Mark and Deby Constantino, Chip Coffey, and Jeff Belanger. There was a definitely large crowd of people that came out and met many great people and some friends that I have not seen for a while. Again, I will state this, that all three of the GAC guys are truly good-natured people and very down to earth.
With all the seminars and just walking around the Old Gothic style prison was a great time. Every time I have been to this place (Investigation or not) I am always struck by the beauty of the architecture.

A little history about O.S.R. The cornerstone laid on November 4, 1886 evolved into this magnificent Chateauesque structure. Cleveland architect Levi T. Scofield designed the Ohio State Reformatory using a combination of three architectural styles; Victorian Gothic, Richardsonian Romanesque and Queen Anne. This was done to encourage inmates back to a "rebirth" of their spiritual lives. The architecture itself inspired them to turn away from their sinful lifestyle, and toward repentance. This grand structure is comprised of more than 250,000 square feet and houses the world's largest free-standing steel cell block. The Reformatory doors were opened to its first 150 young offenders in September 1896. After housing over 155,000 men in its lifetime, the doors to the prison closed December 31, 1990. During the two nights of investigations, people that never had this experience before got to hang with Zak, Aaron, Nick, Mark and Deby and see what ghost hunting is like. With new techniques, the night was very interesting. Zak had some great responses on with his audio sessions, capturing EVP’s that called him some very colorful words. During my experience with Mark and Deby Constantino the audio session turned out to be truly amazing and yet shocking. With such sayings “all these F---ing people” and “Agreed F---ing wicked” truly class A evps.

All in all this was a great time to visit with great friends and I have to say that watching the fans of Ghost adventures and the girls go crazy over zak was in itself fun.

Check out the Ghost Adventures every Friday night on The Travel Channel at 9 pm.
