Augusta Jail

History:
The 1811 Augusta Jail is the oldest jail in the state of Kentucky on its original foundation. The 1st floor, the prisoner’s quarters, have been restored and is open to the public. The second story, the jailer’s living quarters, is currently being renovated and will be open soon. One may take a self-guided tour of the dungeon and the debtor’s portions of the jail. There are many interesting stories about this jail. It is a must see for anyone interested in the history of Augusta.

Investigator Notes:
Once arriving at this old piece of history was just amazing, a small jail but a huge history with inside. The old cast Iron cells still stand and various engravings on the walls from past prisoners date there time served. during our investigation we heard strange noises upstairs as if somebody was walking around. At one point as we waited for the local sheriff to unlock the doors of this historical landmark, a few of us heard the sounds of a old man inside the building talking to us. So in my opinion, just for the history alone, this place is indeed alive with the past, as well for investigations.
